Welcome to my blog! If you are reading this, you may be wondering who I am and why I've chosen to share my homestead journey. So, let's get started!
I am currently in my thirties, a wife, a mother of three teenagers, a Volunteer Coordinator at a humane society, a Texan, and a minimalist. My hobbies include reading, writing, organizing, crocheting, farming, and traveling. What can I say? I’m a simple person! I've recently begun a journey of self-healing and self-discovery since the passing of my wonderful father this past February. Long story short, 2024 has been a rollercoaster of emotions and major life changes…
In March of this year, my husband and I decided we wanted to move out of the city and head to the country. In our twenties, the hustle and bustle of the city was exciting and full of energy. Now that we are getting older and are soon to be empty nesters within the next 5 years or so, we wanted to find our forever home. A home that we could see ourselves enjoying and relaxing in during our golden years. We yearned for a home away from the rest of the world where we could come home to solitude at the end of the workday and relax with only the sounds of nature and not a single human in site. We were fortunate enough to close on a property that we felt was perfect for that in June and have been enjoying it for the last six months!
So why write about it? Not only do I actually enjoy writing and find it therapeutic, but my dream of country life has come with a lot of highs and lows that most bloggers and YouTubers simply don't discuss. When scrolling through homestead posts on social media, I see countless individuals who dream of one day starting a homestead and have goals that simply aren’t realistic with this type of lifestyle. At least not that I have found as of yet. I've chosen to share my journey, both the highs and the lows, in the hopes of helping others who dream of being homesteaders. I hope to not only inspire others but also prepare them for some of the tougher moments that are sure to arise.
I hope you enjoy following my homestead journey and find both value and inspiration along the way! Cheers to homesteading and a life of fulfillment!
